Do I Have to Say the Words? (Inuyasha)

It had been six whole months now since he and his pack had begun travelling with them. During that entire time, it seemed as if she still hadn’t guessed his intentions. Was she really that clueless? Had she somehow managed to deceive him with her supposed intellect? Perhaps he was being too hasty. Why else would he lower himself to join allegiances with his half-brother, bane of his long existence, if not for her sake?

Perhaps he just needed a more direct approach. After all, witnessing first-hand the clumsiness of his brother’s lame attentions to her, she likely wouldn’t understand. No, he would give her the benefit of the doubt. Casual brushing of his fingers against hers when accepting objects, uninhibited staring, even walking side by side to “accidentally” brush up against her just got him nowhere.

Sesshoumaru waited for the most opportune moment to boast his feelings. As the group began settling down for the night, he took his chance.

“Kagome.”

His voice seemed to have startled the priestess. She jumped slightly, then turned around to give him an apologetic smile, and his heart warmed at her soft expression.

“Yes, Sesshoumaru-sama. Can I get you anything before we go to bed?”

He nodded once, fine silver locks reflecting the firelight towards the object of his intent. He kept his gaze locked with hers, attempting to convey the seriousness of his next request.

“Mate with me.”

Silence reigned supreme across the camp ground, until seconds later, loud crashes rang clearly through the underbrush when all except the lord and priestess face-planted to the ground.

Finis.
